What does the word “steal” mean to you? What do you steal from yourself or from other people? Asteya can influence how we relate to people with home we interact and those we influence from afar. We can ask ourselves, do we take advantage of those around us? Ask for things that steal from their time or peace of mind in unfair or unneeded ways? When we say that a new shirt was “a steal,” are we thinking about the hands that went into making it? In what ways do we treat others, near and far, as less important than “things” or appearances?
